EasyBib: the bibliography maker.
Keeping track of where you get your information from is an important part of research.
Referencing is important because it:
-- gives credit to authors
-- helps to avoid plagiarism
-- shows your teacher that you consulted a variety of information sources
One of the common formats for referencing is MLA (Modern Language Association). MLA sets guidelines for referencing, including content, order, and format.
This handout provides examples that you can follow. You can keep track of the details as you go with this source sheet.
There are also web services to help you with referencing.
One of our favourites is World Book Online. Add iin your information and it will format it for you!
You can also try EasyBib -- a website that focuses on referencing.
For more detailed information about MLA referencing, UVic provides an excellent guide.
Please see your teacher or Mr. Clark if you have any questions.
